Town Heritage Walk

Mullewa’s “Town Heritage Walk”, is a pleasant 1,100 metre stroll through the people and places of our history.

The trail is easy to follow (look for the blue markers on pine posts) and uses the town’s footpaths for most of the route.

At a leisurely pace, taking time to read the interpretive panels, it should take 30 – 40 minutes to complete.

The commercial heart of Mullewa developed rapidly in the 1890s, following the discovery of gold in the Murchison – and the arrival of the railway line from Geraldton.

Through the decades since the town’s business fortunes have waxed and waned at the whim of a variety of factors: seasonal conditions, stock and produce prices, mining activity, the rise and fall of the railway, and the development of new technology.

This trail will introduce you to the institutions, organizations and buildings, the businesses, shopkeepers and characters of old Mullewa.
